> Present and Future of Nursing in Dialysis
On June 7th Palex Medical organized an event in Barcelona where attended about 30 health professionals from different hospitals in Catalonia. The aim of the event was to discuss the latest technological innovations in the field of hemodialysis, and to discuss its role in the present and future of nursing.
The event was divided into two blocks. During the first one, the current situation of home hemodialysis (HDD) was reviewed by our Product Manager, David Ojeda and Mª Ángeles Salmerón, nurse responsible for HDD patients at Fundació Puigvert, who shared her experience with the program Palex HDD. Next Anna Junqué, Brand Ambassador EDTNA, presented the new HDD guides and the prominent role of the EDTNA within the group of dialysis nursing at European level.
During the second block, the latest advances in biosensors and biocontrols were presented in the hemodialysis monitors by Francisco Horrillo, Product Manager at Palex Medical. Those innovations of Nikkiso DBB EXA monitor that created special interest were the possibility to measure the recirculation of the vascular access, as well as the D-FAS system (Automatic priming with dialysis fluid or saline solution).Yolanda Morales, from the Hospital Universitari de Girona Dr. Josep Trueta, participated in this block, and spoke about the influence of these advances on the day to day of nursing and the benefits for the patient. .
To conclude the event an interesting debate was opened about the role that new technologies should have in the present and future of dialysis nursing. Thank all of them for their participation and have contributed to the success of the day.
