The IVD Division of Palex participated in the V Conference in Molecular and Clinical Microbiology

On 16th May the V Conference in Molecular and Clinical Microbiology took place in the Hospital General de Valencia. The event was very successful, with around 100 attendees representing 25 hospitals in Spain. Dr. Gimeno, Manager of the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases of the hospital, and moderator of the event, showed her appreciation to Palex for its participation and support to the event.

 

The presentations

 

• The first speech “Congenital Toxoplasmosis: diagnostic methods” was held by Dra. Valeria Meroni. Dra. Meroni explained how difficult is the Toxoplasmosis diagnose and how molecular testing can help on this diagnose.


• The second speech was held by Dra. Silvia de San Jose, Chief of Infeccious and Cancer Unit at Institut Català d'Oncologia, she explained the complete picture of Papilomavirus: virus description, clinical incidence and propose a screening program including the molecular detection of papilomavirus.


• To end the meeting, Dr. Javier Aznar, Chief of Microbiology Dept at H. Virgen del Rocío, spoke about clinical relevance of molecular detection of microorganism responsables for STD diseases, specially Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria Gonorrea.
